One of the aspects of travelling to different places that really appeals to us, is to be able to observe and sometimes meet up with the people living in the particular locality. Often this is biased towards locals who interact with tourists, but occasionally you make more authentic connections.

About 2000 years older than Daryl, this bronze of Apollo in the pose of an archer, was found in Pompeii, Italy. From the restored remains of Pompeii we can learn a lot about the Romans who lived there 20 centuries ago. 1966
Daryl Baldock is immortalised in bronze in the small town of Latrobe, Tasmania. The man known as "the Doc" played 119 matches for St Kilda Football Club, and captained the club's 1966 premiership team. After his football career, he spent 15 years in state politics, rising to the rank of cabinet minister. 2018
